It is really a book of mostly photos with captions identifying the cars and people plus good descriptions of the times and hot rodding of the day. The author rightly concentrated on the Motor Monarchs club as they had the best cars as a group. Other clubs from the county covered too with examples of early drag cars and street Hot Rods and Customs. Especially nostalgic for me the period photos from the Saugus and San Fernando Drag Strips because I was there too. The author could have done a bit more research as he missed the small club from Simi Valley; mostly teenagers; who built a car with little money to win the Street Roadster class at the first NHRA WinterNationals and Ed Houghton of Santa Susana; a fixture at Bonneville and builder of several top 1950s Hot Rods. Main issue is many of the cars shown are mislabeled by model in the captions. The author apparently does not know the differences between Ford Models T; A; B and C and 1932 V-8.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
