At a minimum; Id say you should be at least an advanced high school level (that is; if you started at the standard age in school; which for me was 6th grade; Im 33 now and majored in violin briefly at college). I played several of these pieces in high school; but I was pretty advanced. As far as I can tell; these are the original arrangements; so they are not rearranged for easier play. So; if you google the first pages of the songs listed you can see if it is within your skill set. If you only know first position; this book is not for you quite yet.The CD is pretty good. The speed does seem fast; but if you play the CD on the computer; you can adjust the speed. Each song has two tracks; one with the solo violin line (so you can hear how its supposed to sound) and one with the accompaniment track. Its nice to be able to play in an "orchestra" when you dont have one available. Im really happy with the Play-Along series. Ive got seven other books in the series to try out.
