A Guide to Pictorial Perspective (Dover Art Instruction)

DOC A Guide to Pictorial Perspective (Dover Art Instruction) by Benjamin R. Green in Arts-Photography

Description

Meeting the challenge of realistic drawing involves the application of science to an individual design sense. Here is a clear; jargon-free primer on recreating objects from nature by using perspective techniques. Author Benjamin R. Greens straightforward approach teaches artists and students at all levels how to visually rationalize the differences between form and appearance.Green begins with definitions of lines (parallel; perpendicular; inclined; horizontal; and vertical) and discussions of the seat of the eye and the vanishing point. He examines the relative situation of the spectator and the object to be drawn; compares parallel and oblique views; and discusses drawing objects with more than four sides and curved-line objects such as arches. Numerous illustrations appear throughout the text.

Magnificent Inspirational Book...By missmickee-bookreviewAnd the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful then it took to blossom. ~ Anais` Nin (1903-1977)"Creative Thursday: Everyday Inspiration to Grow Your Creative Practice" is an magnificently illustrated delightful read by nationally recognized author/artist/textile designer Marisa Anne Cummings. Her work has appeared on TV and in various magazine publications.Covering many aspects of the creative process; Marisa Anne encourages artists to begin simply with a sketchbook. Classes are one of the many things to improve artistic skills; (even without leaving the comfort of home); visiting museums; nature-being pure; calm; consistent in its being. "No matter where a person lives; every place is blessed with its own beauty." There are many examples to inspire creativity. Marisa Anne recalled some of her college art teachers: the new skills learned; yet with their critical judgment nearly crushed her creative spirit. Self judgment also causes internal stress; and needs to be released. Many artists striving for perfection "desire to create with excellence". Marisa Anne clarifies that self-esteem and self worth cant be dependent on what others think of your work; avoid comparison to others. It is a big step for an artist to share their work with others; but necessary for the challenge of artist growth/fulfillment; an absolute love for the work created is important. This one of my favorite books on art/creativity; this is a quick read cover to cover; or inspirational reference anytime.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Inspiring and adorableBy JoannaGreat for those who are hoping to start a creative practice; or return to one; but who are having doubts about fitting in the time to do so. Marisa Anne walks you through some common mental hurdles and encourages you to create a space for your creativity. The book is easy to read; touches on self care; and really champions the idea that we are all creative and capable of producing art. (And we all should!)The illustrations are bright; colorful; and very cute. Chapter 3; Finding Inspiration; has some good tips and draws on Marisa Annes experience as an assistant to an interior designer.I originally came across this book in the "Crafts" section of a bookstore; but I would say it falls under both arts/arts crafts and self-help. If you are looking to start pushing boundaries and step outside your comfort zone; this is a good place to start.11 of 11 people found the following review helpful.
