Description

Urban street danceacirc;euro;rdquo;which is now referred to across the globe as "break dance" or "hip-hop dance"acirc;euro;rdquo;was born 15 years prior to the hip hop movement. In todays pop culture; the dance innovators from "back in the day" have been forgotten; except when choreographic echoes of their groundbreaking dance forms are repeatedly recycled in todays media. Sadly; this is still the case when dance moves that were engendered from 1965 through the 1970s on the streets of Reseda; South Central Los Angeles; Oakland; San Francisco; and Fresno; CA; or in the Bronx in New York City; are utilized by modern performers.||In Underground Dance Masters: Final History of a Forgotten Era; an urban street dancer who was part of the scene in the early 1970s sets the record straight; blowing the lid off this uniquely American dance style and culture. This text redefines hip hop dance and the origins of a worldwide phenomenon; explaining the origins of classic forms such as Funk Boogaloo; Locking; Popping; Roboting; and Bboyingacirc;euro;rdquo;some of the most important developments in modern dance that directly affect todays pop culture.

JolleyIf you are looking for something that has a lot of pictures that are step by step then this is not the book for you. It has a few of the finished products but this it doesnt really have any real picture instructions. I am personally ok with this; however someone just beginning may want to look into something a bit easier. Although this would be an amazing book to graduate up to when you want something new to move on to. I quite enjoyed it and even though it was printed in the 60s the bouquets are still gorgeous! Dont just pass it up!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. love this bookBy Compulsively CreativeI think this is better that her first book; lots of interesting flowers; like tritoma; thalictrum; spirea; and lots of leafy filler stuff-cant have too much filler. Techniques are fairly straightforward. Its always amazing how a bunch of twisted wire loops with beads on them can just say "flower"!Lots of really tiny b/w photos-I guess it helps to know what the flower looks like beforehand. Virginia Nathansons instructions are really easy to follow. Wish she had written more books.
