I was hoping for a book geared more toward someone who doesnt have (or can afford) the very specialized equipment required to do a lot of the repairs described. Thats okay; though; because the information contained in it is very instructive; and there is some information I can use that wont cost a fortune and that wont require highly specialized equipment. I was also able to discern from the information which of the books in our collection really should be sent out to an expert who DOES have the right equipment to take care of our more valuable books. Definitely worth while and very well put together. Would have probably bought this anyway; whether I could have used all the information or not -- it was fascinating just to see how a book is actually constructed.12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Ive Been Waiting for This Book to Come Along!By rchrddThere are books out there on this topic; but none quite like this. Ive been looking for something like this for a long time. The step by step instructions give you the confidence to set up your own book-bindery and repair lab and then this manual goes on to show you how to rebind a book. It even includes some basic book repair procedures. Its so well organized and easy to use. Its well-written and easy to follow and the illustrations are amazingly helpful. It doesnt assume that you know anything! THANK YOU! Our library staff has been using it every day since we received our copy.13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. An incredible resourceBy betsy dcThere is no way to improve upon this book; the information is invaluable! The text is well-written yet easy to understand; the illustrations match the text and show the reader the tools and plans needed to set up a bookbinding and repair lab; and the information is clearly organized. This incredibly comprehensive guide to both binding and repairing books as well as setting up a lab is a wonderful resource for librarians and book lovers. It will make an excellent gift for a book lover; as well as a practical guide for the new (and experienced!) book binder.
