A hands-on book design students and designers alike will welcome. Elements of Design is a tribute to an exceptional teacher and a study of the abstract visual relationships that were her lifelong pursuit. Rowena Reed Kiostellow taught industrial design at Pratt Institute for more than fifty years and the designers she trained-and the designers theyre training today-have changed the face of American design. This succinct; instructive; invaluable book reconstructs the series of exercises that led Kostellows students from the manipulation of simple forms to the creation of complex solutions to difficult design problems. It includes her exercises and commentary along with selected student solutions; and concludes with examples of work from former students who became leaders in the field; including such well-known figures as Tucker Viemeister; Ralph Applebaum; Ted Muehling; and many others.

This book covers areas that other writers fail to include in their books on close-up photography; such as focus stacking; HDR; Lensbaby; etc. Its really a comprehensive book on close-up/macro photography. However; I felt that there was too much information on bellows. Its rare that bellows are used for close-ups. Macro lenses; extension tubes and close-up filters have negated the use of bellows.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Soft and out of focus picturesBy Jerryj98501In all honesty; I was somewhat disappointed with this E-book. The text was very informational but about one third of the photos were out of focus and for a book on macro photography; this doesnt make much sense. It would be interesting to see if the hardback book had better pictures; but many were soft focus and I dont know what they were scanned for but were not up to the quality of what was expected. Again the text information was good but poor pictures. I would be hesitant to recommend this book to a true macro photographer.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Love MacroBy SobasPhotosThere are some really cool images in this book with a good variety of subjects. He talks about his thought process with each image as well as what lighting and camera equipment he chose and why. It was very informative and gives some good ideas for expanding your macro shooting skills.I received this book in order to review.
