The Cannon for Theatre Structures.By Ian O.Holdens book on structural design for theatre is often referred in the the theatre circles as the only book you need to understand engineering in theatre. The book tries to simplify and make many things that might be otherwise difficult available to none engineering types. The layout of this book and the way in which she explains things is not always concise and the answers that she comes up with sometimes are not correct mathematically. That being said if you are a technical director; art director or project manager make sure this book is in your library...and a solid calculator.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not for beginnersBy RalphGreat book for the most part. I only have a couple of gripes1)It would be awesome to have a few easy quick reference charts in the back of the book or something. If I forget a simple fact I have to read/skim an entire chapter or so to find my info2) It can be a bit dense...but what do you expect? Not a big deal3) You have to know what youre doing. The book doesnt provide much in terms or anecdotes; practical application; or examples; so if you dont know how/where to apply an equation or concept youre kind of stuck.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Avoid the Kindle versionBy John R ReichenbachI tried to purchase the newer version of this book; but was taking too long to ship it. In the meantime I purchased the kindle version. Poor choice. The book itself has many errors; but coupled with the incoherent scans of the pages with the unsizable tables: thoroughly upsetting. Avoid the Kindle version.
