Error RiddenBy CoryI have gone through a few chapters in this book; while the information content is good; the book is riddled with errors in the equations and examples. For instance; in Chapter 5 the variable definition for gamma in Equation 5.2 [Page 218 219] is incorrect. It should be gamma = 1 ndash; gamma_1 ndash; gamma_2 (where gamma_1 is the mole fraction of carbon dioxide; gamma_2 is the mole fraction of hydrogen sulfide and gamma is the mole fraction of the hydrocarbons and nitrogen). This error is then compounded onto Example 5.1 where Equation 5.2 is incorrect ndash; it should be W = gamma*Whc + gamma_1*W_1 + gamma_2*W_2 not W = gamma*Whc + gamma_1+W_1 + gamma_2*W_2.Granted these errors are small and should be caught relatively easily if the reader has an adequate background in thermodynamics/separations it is still a little bit ridiculous for a book that is on its third edition and cost over $150 new. For any practical applications (ie field applications or student projects) I would highly recommend the GPSA (Gas Processors Suppliers Association) Engineering Data book and use this book as theoretical background.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
