Alex and the Warrior (Oberon Plays for Younger People)

DOC Alex and the Warrior (Oberon Plays for Younger People) by Ann Coburn in Arts-Photography

Description

In classical mythology; Phaethon is the child of the sun god Helios; who tries to drive his fathers chariot and is killed in the attempt. Euripides explains how this happened: Helios had seduced Phaetons mother - already betrothed to another - and as the price of her seduction had promised to grant her a favour. As an adult Phaethon claims the promise and asks to drive his fathers chariot; with disastrous consequences... Only a quarter of Euripides original version of Phaethon has survived. Alistair Elliot has translated these surviving 327 lines and reconstructed the rest; staying as faithful as possible to Euripides time and way of thinking. The result is something very like finding a lost Euripides play; unperformed since the fifth century BC and amounting to a new masterpiece.

You know; just blasting through a scale shape in hopes that something cool would come for it. I bought this book because I hoped that it would give me a little direction to make my phrases more thoughtful. It was very useful. It presented some neat ideas that were fun to practice. I found some of the licks becoming ingrained in my playing. Id say it was time well spent. The book presents scales and chords for you to use. I suppose a beginner or near beginner could; though they may become frustrated that some of the passages dont come out like on the recording. Especially; some of the "bendier" phrases or trills. But all things come with practice. It also gives some rudimentary info on which scales to use over which chords... Id say best used for advanced beginners or intermediate players who wish for a good intro to phrasing; soloing and theory.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The audio/video does not work with Kindle for PC.By DeeThe audio/video does not work with Kindle for PC (or; Im assuming; some of the other free Kindle apps). The description does say that the audio/video works with most of the Kindle Fires; iPads; and certain other devices; but it does not say that it ONLY works with those devices. In fact; the page (in another spot) says that the Kindle edition is available on a longer list of devices (including the Kindle for PC app I downloaded). After buying the book and downloading the app; I discovered that the audio/video did not work. s customer service was very understanding - no complaints there (but; I do hope they change the wording on the website).I have seen the book; with the audio/video component; run on a Kindle Fire; it does look like a very good instructional book - as long as the audio/video is there. If I could use that part of it; it would probably get five starts. I just dont want anyone else to think its going to work right with some of the other Kindle apps.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Blues That You Can Use NowBy James W. CarterThis Blues Guitar Book with CD is a great form of instruction for beginning and intermediate guitar players new to blues. If youve been studying Licks after Licks with Instructor after Instructor online and want some way to put it all together intohellip;Blues you can use than this book is for you. This instruction is clear and easy and in Hard Print; so it is easy to go over and over it till you get it right. Just follow the instructions on the very first page and make every lesson and "study" or solo last one week and youll be surprised how fast you begin to understand and play the blues. Now the licks you have learned along the way have somewhere to go. This instruction gives you a great foundation to add licks to. Highly recommended.
