DohertyThis is the book I wish I was given when I first started to learn how to read. I learned how to read on guitar the hard way. I sat down with a book that kept me in first position; never explained the concept of moving up and down the neck to find a more comfortable position to play something; and generally seemed to tend towards the "youll figure it out" mentality.Chris Buono has given us all a great gift here. You will grow as a musician and a guitar player by checking this book out. Chris has a very interesting way of looking at the guitar neck that I find to be very enlightening. I went through the book from start to finish; and I wish that this had been my first introduction to sight-reading for the guitar.Stick with this book and you will ALWAYS have a gig. Ive played in a number of diverse settings; in ALL of those settings; my ability to read gave me great benefits and an ability to tackle anything that was put in front of me. Buy this book; buy a metronome if you dont have one; and dig in. You will be well rewarded for your efforts.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Caution; you will need at least a Kindle Fire and a great set of headphones to hear the audio excerpts needed for the lessons.By jrb17xThe book seems well layed out and planned. My word of warning is that the audio excerpts will not play on any regular Kindle; android app; or PC version. This of course renders the lessons worthless in playing along. I have contacted the author; who does not control the publishing; and Hal Leonard to find an audio source. I am patiently waiting for a solution.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. For the beginner through strong intermediate player your rhythmic abilities will grow with this book.By Roy WIntersChris has done a monster job here. 600 Drills to review. Deals very strongly with all the combinations of 1/16th notes. Well thought out; starts simple and then really digs in. Lots of learning opportunities.
