More than PicturesBy Edhistory"Picturing Disability: Beggard; Freak; Citizen; and Other Photographic Rhetoric" is an eye-opening look at human beings that are quite different and; as such; have historically compelled a variety of emotional reactions. This publication has gathered a remarkable collection of images to present insights and information that makes this a combined scholarly and popular publication; both historical and cultural. Each chapter presents numerous images and examines people with particular disabilities and the conditions of their existence. Beware... youll spend more time with this publication than you anticipate. Yes; curiosity will cause you to pursue it with mixed motivations but the result is greater understanding of the "disabled" and of ourselves. Its a unusual and valuable education.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Facinating visuals!By Nikki MurdickThis book is a must for any disability studies program.
