Animal Drawing and Anatomy (Dover Art Instruction)

DOC Animal Drawing and Anatomy (Dover Art Instruction) by Edwin Noble in Arts-Photography

Description

No artist; designer; or craftsman can be regarded as fully equipped without a knowledge of natural forms; asserts this instructive volume. "All forms of life offer rich material for design; whether realistic or conventional;" it notes; adding that studies from life "of the human figure; the forms of all animals and birds; and of the inhabitants of the waters; and of plants; must precede mastery of the art of design." With this profusely illustrated guide; beginners can learn the fundamentals of animal drawing; and more experienced artists can find tips that will assist them in refining their skills. Written and illustrated by a distinguished artist and art instructor of the early twentieth century; this volume features valuable insights into reproducing accurate images of horses; cows; dogs; sheep; birds; and wild animals. The explanatory text; highlighted by 233 drawings; offers advice not only on depicting musculature; hair; feathers; and other obvious physical features; but also on such essentials as action; pose; proportions; and character.

The authors do an outstanding job of explaining the Great Depression; and they do it in about 12 paragraphs so you dont have to suffer very long with the explanation. The legacy of the Texas CCC state parks is examined. This is an approachable book with plenty of fresh thoughts and outstanding illustrations.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The Legacy....wonderful titleBy Jerry DaughertyI really enjoy this book as it is well written with many interesting facts about the life and times of a past generation that went through many struggles during a tough period in our US history. My Dad was in the CCC as a young man and many of the pictures and notes from this book brings to my rememberance the stories he told me as a child growing up and to be reminded of these trough this book is amazing2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great History!By Dottie LouI chose this rating because of the pictures and narrative. My father was in CCC in Mississippi and as a little girl I heard him say many many times; "When I was in CC Camp..." It is great that Dr. Brandimarte encapsulates this period of history for Texas and for such a meaningful and memorable time in all of our history. Dad is thoroughly engrossed in it--at age 95!
