Beautiful Patterns AND Inspirational TechniquesBy Anastasia McPhersonMost knitters have not only yarn stashes but stashes of almost finished sweaters and other projects that require blocking and seaming. It is knittings dirty little secret: finishing is an art in itself; albeit a tedious one.No Finish Knits provides not only lovely; useful patterns to make with creative construction techniques that require no seaming but provides them in good yarns that are either available or easily substituted. The patterns are classic and useful with wonderful lace and cable details and manage to incorporate current style trends while remaining classic. The designs are also good for all ages; being neither too old or too young. The construction techniques are astonishing and inspirational. Every pattern in this book deserves to be carefuly read; especially by budding or experienced designers. Not all of the techniques are easy; but they are all translatable to other designs. These are very useful construction techniques and deserve to be used more often. Perhaps not every garment can be totally seamless; but many garments can eliminate some seams resulting in a higher ratio of finished projects.The instructions are clear and well written and include charts and schematics as well as written directions. The usual appendices of cast-ons; bind-offs and increased and decrease methods used in the projects are included as well. This book is a treasure trove and is in competition with Knitters Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes and Gauges for my favorite knitting book of 2012. Very Innovative and Useful Knitting BookBy Camping101So many times finish free means just raglan sleeves and a basic garment. This book really has some innovative patterns in many different styles so youll definitely find something youll want to knit. I have many pages already tabbed in my copy and have one of the sweaters on the needles. Every pattern has detailed instructions; lots of diagrams and a measurement schematic--not just the basic measurements but what each section of the garment should measure which is really helpful. Also; there are photos of both fronts and backs along with close-up details like sleeve edgings; collars and button closures. Very useful book.
