Some of the weaknesses of the original White Pages books have been dealt with here: the book is an easily managable; printed on good stock with a crisp; clean; easily readable typeface. It feels just like a fat paperback (not a phone book). Chord diagrams are almost always provided; thankfully. Lyrics are complete; and always printed right underneath the chords; so you dont have to keep flipping pages to see what to sing next. Arrangements usually sound faithful; even for songs not written for guitar. There are a lot of old; easy tunes to learn as well as the complex ones; so beginners can dive right in. I was playing recognizable music the first day I bought this book. If youre sick and tired of trolling guitar tab sites to find good chord arrangements of your favorite songs (as I was); then you should buy this book. It has over 400 high-quality ones.If there is one weakness here; it is that it doesnt include strumming and/or picking patterns for the songs. You have to make them out for yourself. Maybe in the next version?4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Lots of songs.By L. KempThis book is smaller than most so the music is on several pages which means you need to turn pages while playing or copy pages to fit on one or two pages. Lots of songs in this book. Good variety. I am still somewhat of a beginner with guitar. I have had several years of lessons and play some bar chords like F and B however; this book has a lot of songs with unusual chords in them. They "modified" some of the chords to make them sound like harder chords but; they are challenging. There are a few songs that are good for beginners but; a majority of the songs are better suited to someone with moderate experience. Still; there are enough songs in this book that you should be able to find several good ones to play and get your moneys worth out of it. I did.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great variety; easy to followBy Kyle C. HarshbargerHal Leonard makes some good song books. No song book will have every song I want; and they will all have songs I dont want; but this one gives you a great bang for the buck.Songs: A great mix from every decade since the 60s along with some traditional fares. Hal Leonard reuses a lot of their songs in their various song books; so I recommend picking up this one and ignoring the rest. If you REALLY love the 80s; then pick that one up; too; but the best songs are in here.Readability: The book is a big hard to keep open at first; but once it is broken in it will stay open just fine. Chords are generally well written and appropriate; but there are some typos and chords that make no sense in context. For example; if youre playing lots of open chords; you probably dont want to move down to the 5th fret to play a D7.
