Read this book!By K.B.This is probably one of the most important books ever written about the subtle but potent and psychological / esoteric influential expressions of music. The substance of its discussion is largely ignored by the conventional music establishment. Yet it conveys so much of insight to the profound esoteric influences of music throughout the recent ages. It might be of value here to suggest that a companion volume to substantiate the predicates presented in this marvelous treatise would be "Talks with Great Composers" by Arthur M. Abell. This kind of discussion about music is largely ignored or tossed aside by the conventional music establishment (out of fear and ignorance); but is of vital and significant importance if we are ever to make progress along cultural lines; for it has relevance and parallels to all the creative arts. I; myself; am a composer; and have always refracted all that I have written to contribute to the essential edicts of this treatise; since first encountering it in the early 1970s. I would encourage all who are interested to study and re-read what is written in this first volume. Another updated second volume will be forthcoming. Cyril Scott was impressed to write this treatise; as he confesses. It was not his own work alone; but inspired from extra sources. This factor alone should give pause for recollection pertaining to just where from inspiration comes and what is required to cause oneself to be receptive to Such. One cannot make a mistake in ordering this book and studying it. I would also advise the BBC to do so. The BBC Music Magazine is wonderful; but often misses the point or mark along this particular line. Order this book and study it. You will never regret it. Study and re-study it! Commit to your understanding a greater depth and realization of the significance of the creative arts; and lobby your political representatives to wake up and come to their senses along this line. The creative arts along any line defines the culture of the Age. Since we are now entering the Age of Aquarius (in 2117) then let us work towards the future with confidence in all that humanity aspires to of Beauty and Goodness. This book helps to light the Way along the lines of understanding music in this regard. There will be other subsequent complementary writings forthcoming along many other lines; all tending towards the same edicts.. Scott puts a different light on classical composers; their lives and significance in the flow of history. It is also an almost concrete example that we are not creators; we merely bring down what has already been thought of in the unlimited; vast mind of God. We either tap into it at the present or have in the past and our memories awaken to it once again. Scott points out; those composers who took the credit and had their egos expanded from it; suffered ill effects; misuse of energy. Music is a gift from above to awaken humanity as a whole at certain times of our evolution. Music is designed to stimulate us. What do we experience with different kinds of music? Scotts book reminded me to use music and not let the music run my states; emotional or mental.
