A truly beautiful labor of love; it is packed to the gills with photos of famous and not-so-famous record collectors; their collections; and their favorite records. Pazs photography makes his subjects jump off the page; although sometimes a little too much so. Photographs are laid one on top of the other which creates an almost disorienting effect when looking at endless pictures of piles of records. With so much to look at in every single photo; I wish Paz had laid off this technique a little and let the plain photos speak for themselves.Another area of the book that I wish was handled differently was the decision to put all of the interviews at the end of the book. I think interspersing them throughout the book would have broken up the occasional monotony that sets in from leafing through pages of pictures of records. That said; the interviews themselves are uniformly fantastic and I wish there were even more of them. From the slightly curmudgeonly Joe Bussard to the refreshingly open and unpretentious Kieran Hebdan to an account of a record hunt in Africa; they are all worth reading and worth reading slowly. If you are the type of person who; when visiting someones house for the first time and seeing they also collect records; cant resist pawing through their collection; or who just enjoys regular trips to the used section of your favorite record store; this book is a must-buy.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The LP As KingBy David M. GreenI used to manage a great music store on Long Island which is actually still there; even stronger than ever. So this book had me immediately as I once had a great deal of LPs at home; so there were a lot of similar looks throughout for me. More than just a handy book of collectors; there is a great deal here in ideas for collectors themselves and those that arent.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. He absolutely love this bookBy AnnaThis book was purchased for a friend/coworker who has become a record collector in the last few years. He absolutely love this book. He told me that he spends about two hours everyday with this book reading and researching online. He has enjoyed listening to the music that has been collected and understanding more about record collecting.
