PrattHarrison breaks down piano and music theory basics into effective chunks you can chew on without any additional support. The learning curve does get steeper as the book goes on; but each song has a enough new and review content that staying in one place or going backwards is still very helpful. After a few weeks I have already learned note reading. I practice very hard every day. I am close to retirement age so my hands are not as flexible as young kids. Nice jazz arrangements.By IsaacExcellent book for beginners and intermediate players since it comes with a CD for reference. I especially liked the jazz pieces for their rich tones. They were an immediate inspiration to play more. Consider spiral-binding this book so that the pages remain flat on your stand.
