I actually didnt even notice this until I read that review (though now that I think of it the sample on my kindle did seem tougher than the book). But that worked in my favor- I havent played at all in 15+ years so I have no business ordering anything other than "easy piano" versions. Like other reviewers have said; the most difficult part of the arrangements is the rhythm and syncopation- time signatures frequently change and then change back mid-piece and tempos can quickly go from allegro to lento in the same song. I was only classically trained; so I was never any good with syncopated free-style rhythms like in jazz or other styles- but if those come easily to you then youll likely have an easy time with this. Once I was able to work through the rhythms I really really enjoyed these arrangements. Im a huge fan of the show and often listen to the soundtrack recording; and a lot of these really do sound like the original pieces. You know how sometimes the "easy" arrangements just sound too simplified and watered-down to do justice to the original? Not so for this (within reason- obviously the piano in your living room isnt going to sound like a full orchestra). After not playing for so long; Im so glad that this was the book to get me back to the keyboard (but I think my neighbors are cursing John Lunn)!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very enjoyable to play through!By Morgan WengerI loved this book from the moment I sat down to play the first song! The first song is about 5 pages long; but was very easy to pick up and contains the main Downton themes that we know and love! It is very fun to play through. I did not give it 5 stars because the rest of the songs in the book are themes that to me are less noticable (although Im only on season 2 of Downton Abbey; so maybe they will become more familiar as I finish the series). But even if just to buy the book for the first song; it was very worth it to me!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
