Definitely a must have/read for any young aspiring jazz musician. Book covers from the very beggining in the transportation of the african slaves from west africa; and their arrival at colonies; all the way to the early 21st century. The sincretism of the african music with the colonial and european influence music into becoming the dixieland music that we would years later call jazz. However i will have to notice that in this spanish traduction i bought i noticed there were some errors in the translation; like calling Kenny Dorham a pianist when it was going to speak about Horace Silver in the text. None the less I highly recommend this book to jazz musicians and fanatics; or simply anyone that feels interested in jazz music.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
