Isabel Samarass quirky; sexy; pop-surrealist art has had a cult following for years and now at long last her first monograph; On Tender Hooks; is here. Drawing her influence from classic TV shows and paintings by the Old Mastersmdash;for example riffing on Gricaults Raft of the Medusa by replacing the figures with characters from Gilligans Islandmdash;Samaras has created a witty; erotic; and surreal body of work. This fresh and dazzling volume includes a three-way interview between Samaras and fellow low-brow artists Shag and The Pizz; as well as delightful and enlightening commentary from gallerist Justin Giarla and art writer Colin Berry; and an erotic short story by Lucy Blue.

Cheap text bookBy Merry BellI needed this book for a university text book (drama) and while it was the cheapest and quickest way to buy the works of Ibsen; it was poorly laid out; and I was unable to put proper references in as to page numbers etc.Ibsen generally; is known as a classic playwright; and so I can only give my opinion; which isnt worth much in the face of his having been accepted as such. I find his work mildly engaging; but he has a liking for not making things work out. He likes the unhappy-ever-after finish; and that isnt my usual preference.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A writer o read more than onceBy amatecoEvery play shows some feature of ordinary people stressed with the aim to carry it to an extreme and in that climax find a great drama.Ibsen displays a personal style throughout all the plays in the book; but Peer Gynt is a special work; where the Nordic mythology is shown in a mixture of present-past and profound knowledge of human psychology.
