Joseph Mallord William Turner is arguably Britains greatest and most mysterious painter; whose range of work encompasses seascape and landscape; immensely powerful oil paintings and intimate watercolours. His friend and colleague C.R. Leslie remembered him thus: Turner was short and stout; and had a sturdy; sailor-like walk. He might be taken for the captain of a river steamboat at first glance; but a second would find more in his face than belongs in any ordinary mind. There was that peculiar keenness of expression in his eye that is only seen in men of constant habits of observation. The son of a Covent garden barber and a woman who died in Bethlehem Hospital; Turner achieved fame and fortune during his lifetime. Although he possessed a wide-ranging imagination; he was an often incoherent speaker and writer; and his muddled will produced much discord - it is a wonder that; despite avaricious relatives and incompetent lawyers; so many of his works are now in the hands of the nation; and publicly proclaim his genius. In this previously unavailable biography; Anthony Bailey has drawn upon archival material; scholarly literature and research; as well as studying many of Turners sketchbooks; paintings and watercolours. Uncovering fresh material; as well as pulling together previously known facts; Bailey sheds new light on this complicated and secretive artistic figure.

Suddenly it all came together; and Im making all Mr Colemans flowers with no problem. I do wish he had included more types of flowers; but am happy that I am able to do these. And; one can always experiment. There are helpful hints included for the bonsai creations and presentations. And of course; the DVD is always a nice addition.Later comment: I just raised my rating to 5 stars. Am enjoying this book a lot and have mounted flowers on stems and made (my biased opinion) some nice bouquets. BTW; the paper that is included is easy to work with; and works up into very nice flowers. Ive also enjoyed trying different types of paper and actually some of those are even lovelier. Im sure Mr. Coleman said; somewhere; that experimentation can bring satisfying results. Anyway; this little booklet is a good addition to ones "flower library".2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great book!By Ms.JThe book is very detailed. SloaneFinally; an origami kit with a video anyone can follow. Coleman gives precise and super clear instructions on how to fold several flowers and leaves. I found myself able to do this even though Ive had no experience with Origami before. Take your time and practice with the DVD and you will get great results.
