ePub Cinque commedie in cerca d'attori: 1 (Fuoridallequinte) (Italian Edition) by Oronzo Trapani in Arts-Photography

Description

In the first edition of A Practical Guide to Stage Lighting; Steve Shelley cracked open his production book and showed how to prepare a lighting design and create the paperwork needed to mount a production. In the second edition; he pulled back the curtain and showed the methods and processes that go on before the light plot is finalized and ready to go to into the shop; even dealing with cutting the plot in half.In this third edition; Shelley throws the door wide open and shows step-by-step how to construct every lighting system in the Hokey light plot. Combining his diacritical analysis; killer drafting; and analytic use of the Slinky Method and Slinky Calculations; he presents the Periodic Table of Fundamental Lighting Systems and shows the basic methods used to create multi-instrument lighting systems. Highlights include:-Over 100 new topics; including analysis and application of the three categories of collaboration; a detailed examination of production meetings and one-on-one meetings; and meeting checklists with management and the creative team.-Over 50 new illustrations; including Shelleys Periodic Table of Fundamental Lighting Systems; groundplans; sections; and front elevations that illustrate basic system wash configurations for each direction of light. -Analysis; calculation; and step-by-step technical construction of each lighting system in the Hokey light plot.-Explanation of a manufacturers cut sheet; and how to apply basic formulas to determine the beam size; footcandles; and gel transmission for lighting instruments.-Updated process of pre-programming computer lighting consoles prior to the load-in.-Comprehensive overview of archiving paperwork and softcopy for a production.

Hamlet; with its leatherette covered boards; sewn signatures and 85# paper; is a beautiful edition; even without color illustrations within. 2011 saw the release of A Midsummer Nights Dream; which offered illustrated cloth covered boards; continued America manufacture; very high production quality and added profuse color illustration throughout. Both of these books had illustrated end papers. The 2012 reproduction of Dulacs The Tempest is produced in China. The cloth on the boards is more coarse than that on A Midsummer Nights Dream; the end papers are not illustrated; but colored to complement the boards and the paper used in the book; while heavy and a pleasant ivory color; feels stiff. The signatures are sewn; and the book feels well made; but to me it seems that the production standards are just not quite as high.Dover is to be commended for offering the Calla editions. These are wonderful books; and proof that digital media cannot truly replace the printed page. All of these releases offer a tactile experience in addition to the content within; and this points to the problem with the 2012 releases Ive handled; including The Tempest. They just dont feel as nice. Ill continue to purchase Calla editions; but I fear that my satisfaction will wane as the production quality becomes more pedestrian.I understand times change; but I would have preferred that the prices had increased more; the quality remained as high and; frankly; that the manufacture had remained in America. I have other 2012 releases; and they are of similar quality and sourcing. I saw Calla Editions as being about producing excellent books; not cutting corners to meet a price point. This edition of The Tempest is a lovely book; and I would have been thrilled with it but for the excellence and value that earlier Calla editions offered. A nice Calla edition marred by a cheap binding...By CarcosaI buy most of the Calla reprints of classic illustrated books and are impressed by the quality of most of them; but the more recent releases are not as nice as the first wave; and this edition of THE TEMPEST is bound in light purple textured paper essentially; and its just not going to hold up. Very disappointing. Printing and image reproduction quality is just fine though. Hope future volumes improve....0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. SHAKESPEARE AT HIS PEAK.By Joseph M.One of Shakespeares greatest plays. Very important to read it before watching it. The dialogue on stage is fast; and reading the text is much slower. In short; youll be lost without reading the text first.
