Description

Browns book Just Enough is a compelling account of how Edo Japan confronted similar environmental problems and created solutions that connected farms and cities; people and nature. mdash;Huffington Post The world has changed immeasurably over the last thirty years; with more; bigger; better being the common mantra. But in the midst of this constantly evolving world; there is a growing community of people who are looking at our history; searching for answers to issues that are faced everywhere; such as energy; water; materials; food and population crisis. In Just Enough; author Azby Brown turned to the history of Japan; where he finds a number of lessons on living in a sustainable society that translate beyond place and time. This book of stories depicts vanished ways of life from the point of view of a contemporary observer; and presents a compelling argument around how to forge a society that is conservation-minded; waste-free; well-housed; well-fed and economically robust.Included at the end of each section are lessons in which Brown elaborates on what Edo Period life has to offer us in the global battle to reverse environmental degradation. Covering topics on everything from transportation; interconnected systems; and waste reduction to the need for spiritual centers in the home; there is something here for everyone looking to make changes in their life.Just Enough is much-needed beacon in our evolving world; giving us hope in our efforts to achieve sustainability now.

The description said something like; "William Starr continues his series on music .... with this third volume." But I misunderstood when I skimmed the description; thinking that hed written other kinds of books on reading music (other instruments and/or different approaches). There was no indication in the title that this was the third book in the beginning violin series other than the tiny little blurry black words in the corner of the photo of the front of the book. Having said that; Im now going to order the first book in the series (very carefully) because I think this will be perfect for DD right now for learning her note reading.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Perfect Practice!By Jon HolmesThis book and the other Book 2 and Book 3 are musts for beginners wanting practice to improve; as well as people who are already skilled and just want to fine tune what they know or improve upon what they can do. Each book is tailored to levels basically by difficulty to play. The book is very well thought out too. You can start with page one in book one; and by the time you master that; page two is playable. After that; page three is playable. In most cases if you try to skip a page without being able to master the previous page; youll find the following page a little tough. So very well set up as far as progressing your level.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy DonnaBook was recommended by violin teacher. Enjoying it.
