Commemorating and Forgetting: Challenges for the New South Africa

DOC Commemorating and Forgetting: Challenges for the New South Africa by Martin J. Murray in Arts-Photography

Description

A failed wizard is conscripted to help a distant kingdom in the throes of political duress. While the story is; as usual for Terry Pratchett; inventive and amusing; the work is quite short and does not allow for the usual development of the story or the characters as usual in full Pratchett novels. By its very nature (a dramatic script); the work must be short but a Pratchett reader should only pick this one up knowing full well what to expect: a very short tale.Still worth a read but have the next book handy as this one ends rather quickly.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. May You Read Interesting TimesBy FlitworthBecause of its references to East Asian culture; I gave this to numerous professors in college because I studied Japanese language and culture (although you will find that Chinese culture is the primary reference point for this book). Probably none of them appreciated it but; as I am socially awkward and struggle with the idea that smart; functional human beings might not take pleasure in the same things I do; I continued to gift it. This continues the saga of Rincewind and brings back Cohen the Barbarian. It is lovely and enjoyable and; in its own way; harkens to the conclusions of Orwells Homage to Catalonia. Naturally you should read all the Discworld novels up to this point before indulging; because you should read all of them. The book can be read as a standalone but you will find a deeper pleasure in the later Pratchett novels if you take the journey from the beginning.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Read and Re-read this bookBy CJIm a big fan of Terry Pratchett; and INTERESTING TIMES is one of my favorites. Ive read it at least a dozen times now; though my preference is honestly the audio book because the narrator is a genius. I literally laugh out loud.
