Whats good about this one is that it groups chords by the keys; so that it includes those that sound good together. So the A "family"; for example; doesnt just includes variants of A; it includes C#m; E7; F#m; D and some others. It makes it easier to look up chords to spice up something youre working on or writing.But you can find that information in other format books; like encyclopedias of chord progressions. What this is aimed at is being a quick reference you keep in your case; and that use shows the weakness of this book that made me give it four stars instead of five. Its binding is inconvenient for that. Doesnt lay flat without something lying on it to keep it open. A spiral or other flex binding would have been better.Im not saying it isnt good. Chord book organized the way I like it...By Cyclone JI will agree with one of the other reviewers; that this book would be easier to use if it were spiral bound or if there were another way to hold the pages open conveniently. However; with that stated; this is the chord book I most often reach for within my library of 4 or 5 different ones. The reason is; it is a songwriters dream with the way it is organized. It is organized by key rather than by any other category of chord (such as all the "A" chords together; "E" chords together; etc.). So; once I turn to a page; I can usually find all the chords I need or want on that page. Over the years; Ive expanded my knowledge of chords that work well together and I write better songs. Ive ordered this book at least 2 or 3 times for friends who want to song write more. For the cheap price that its usually available; the guitar case chord book cant be beat. If you want a comprehensive list of every chord available; there are plenty of other options out there; but if you want a book thats quick/handy/easy to use... this is your best bet.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
