Most of the interviews are fascinating. While some of the content regarding process is outdated; the discussions of career choices; creativity; creative process; and subjects are quite interesting.I expected to sample a few of the interviews but ended up reading them all. I like to hear from photographers or artists in their own words without the opinions and sometimes self aggrandizing point-of-view of a critic or author. Most of the time the internet could find works from the persons interviewed. To further study the photographers; I bought used books on by interviewees Edward Weston; Joyce Tenneson; and William Neill. I study photography books for inspiration; and these three are very good. I expect to use this book to guide me to more great photographers portfolios to study.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This book is an excellent resource for students and people new to photographyBy Robert L. KeirsteadThis book is an excellent resource for students and people new to photography. It provides a summary of thirty three influential photographers of the 20th century. Each chapter is dedicated to one photographer with a biography and then a dialog with the author in question and answer format. It can serve as a roadmap for students who want to explore an area of specialization; such as fashion; portraiture; commercial; editorial; etc. The biographies provide an insight into how each photographer started and refined there craft. Without books like this some of the lesser known contributors to the evolution of photography would be lost to history.
