Interesting Reading with Practical LessonsBy SteveDonaldsonThis book is actually a detailed study of reducing stress concentrations found in structures. The author arrived at these simple rules by studying trees; and his results are validated using extensive finite element modeling by others. The practical value is clear: as we move away from manufacturing by removing metal from large blocks (machining) to build-up of structures by additive processes (metal powder sintering; polymer curing lithography; etc) using CAD models; his approaches can be applied easily.The book is very well illustrated with 205 figures; many in color.
