This book provides planners with an overview of a number of global water projects and the unexpected ecological consequences which the engineers encountered or caused. The examples stress human health and aquatic ecology. Through historical assessment of well documented case studies; the book also identifies the steps planners took to overcome these problems; and gives guidance for planners of future projects. The book is suitable for use as an introductory text by young engineers exploring the scope of the profession; and for graduate engineers specializing in design of international water projects or environmental engineering

Good Comprehensive SurveyBy Mark WilsonOverall; I found this survey to be comprehensive and enjoyable; although a few of the individual chapters were rather dry. Several of the essays might be a tough nut to crack for the layperson; so you might check out the sample prior to purchase. The books structure helps maintain interest throughout; with four sections focusing on:1. Social changes and organological developments: An essay on the string quartets role in society and one on the developments in string instruments2. Celebrated ensembles: Two essays by Tully Potter on ensembles and recordings.3. Playing string quartets: Three essays on the art of quartet playing4. The string quartet repertory: Eight essays on the repertory from pre-Haydn to the present day.In summary; an interesting collection to which Ill return frequently as a resource. Enjoy!0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy Dr Arie VerburghVery helpful to the non-musician in improving background knowledge about string quartets.
