Die Grenze zwischen Pauml;dagogik und Kunst (German Edition)

audiobook Die Grenze zwischen Pauml;dagogik und Kunst (German Edition) by Aljoscha Kuch in Arts-Photography

Description

For the cityrsquo;s first two hundred years; the story told at Washington DCrsquo;s symbolic center; the National Mall; was about triumphant American leaders. Since 1982; when the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated; the narrative has shifted to emphasize the memory of American wars. In the last thirty years; five significant war memorials have been built on; or very nearly on; the Mall. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial; the Korean War Veterans Memorial; the Women in Military Service for America Memorial; The National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism During WWII; and the National World War II Memorial have not only transformed the physical space of the Mall but have also dramatically rewritten ideas about U.S. nationalism expressed there. In Sacrificing Soldiers on the National Mall; Kristin Ann Hass examines this war memorial boom; the debates about war and race and gender and patriotism that shaped the memorials; and the new narratives about the nature of American citizenship that they spawned. Sacrificing Soldiers on the National Mall explores the meanings we have made in exchange for the lives of our soldiers and asks if we have made good on our enormous responsibility to them.

KaplowitzHeres the book in a nutshell: Take the 4 note dominant 7th arpeggio (1-3-5-b7) ascending and descending (over a single octave) over a measure or two in 4/4 time. Move up a fourth and repeat the previous execution of the arpeggio in the next key in the cycle. Keep going up a fourth until youve done it in 12 keys. Gradually add some rhythmic variety to the same 4 notes by using rests; 8ths; 16ths; and triples (but every downbeat has a note on it; unlike how everyone in jazz really plays). Repeat 460 times. Its a pretty dull and unimaginative way to teach playing cycles. No extended chords; no altered chords; no substitutions for 7th chords; like diminished chords functioning as 7b9 chords; etc. basically none of the stuff that makes the V7-I progression so interesting and cool sounding. The authors dont even recommend practicing these patterns over recorded/looped progressions. Its hard to imagine anyone getting anywhere with a method like this. One would be much better off with Jerry Cokers books; or Don Mocks books (guitar centric); or the Aebersold volumes on the ii-V-I or the "Dominant 7th workout". With the latter you get recordings of a band playing the changes; and pretty good written material to accompany the recordings. Thats a much better way to learn to hear these cycles than playing the same 4 notes by yourself to a metronome over and over again.4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Reading practice makes perfectBy JeanetteBest Book for practicing your reading; period. Not a book for someone interested in the jazz essentials or fundamentals. But perfect your reading practice.7 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Could have been...By Chris C. Kraemer"The Cycle of Fifths" could have been so much more but falls far short of any sort of teaching aid for musicians. What is perhaps one of the most important and simple set of progressions for jazz musicians the ii-V7-I is not ever touched in the book. There are mentions of Kern; Parker; and Ellington in the intro; but not a single snippet of actual song chord changes or ii-V licks are to be found anywhere. There are just 123 pages of the same exercise over and over and over again. The author repeats the same monotonous V7 to V7 to V7 until it bleeds. There is no relenting. After five pages of this stuff; you will be driven to a `cycle of fifths of a different kind; like a fifth of scotch... Do yourself a favor; and buy a REAL book (http://www..com/Real-Book-Hal-Leonard-Corporation/dp/0634060384/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8s=booksqid=1249352021sr=8-1). This will teach you much more about the essential ii-V than anything found on this page.
