Die Wieskirche - Chor und Hochaltar (German Edition)

audiobook Die Wieskirche - Chor und Hochaltar (German Edition) by Angela Ott in Arts-Photography

Description

They stuffed the place up. That was the phrase Kerry Packer used in a lament shared with one of his most trusted advisers - his own succinct epitaph for the old Channel 9 spoken shortly before his death. Who "they" were and what they did to warrant their boss stinging disapproval is precisely what this book is about. This is a book about the media like no other. How exactly do you kill a TV network that for three decades dominated the Australian television and media landscape? With Kerry Packer at the helm; and with a host of stars and personalities that made it the envy of its rivals; Channel 9 dominated the airwaves; consistently winning the ratings battle and fostering a unique esprit de corps within its ranks. But in a few short years; its gone from top dog to also ran - with rock bottom morale; mass redundancies and a resurgent opposition mainly staffed with vengeful former Nine management. Where does the blame lie; and whos brave enough to expose the dysfunction; mismanagement and more than occasional act of bastardry that reads as a how-to of how not to run a business? In this extraordinary book; Gerald Stone gives a truly eye-opening inside account of the death of a television network. The result is a drama far more riveting than anything on television; played out by an incredible cast of characters; most of them household names; some of them business legends; and all of them as youve never; ever seen them before.

MagellanI carefully read the reviews of this book and got it from the library before purchasing my own copy. I tried several intro to painting and painting a day books but this was my favorite. This isnt as much an instructional book as it is an inspiration/idea book. It allows you to have some structure to a daily painting practice that progresses in difficulty and doesnt repeat. Ive also been using this for digital painting instead of regular painting and its working out quite well.9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Ideas for one painting a dayBy Parka[[VIDEOID:mo3868MBPT7WMHU]]One Painting A Day is more of an ideas book rather than an instructional book. There are some tips here and there but not much on the more technical stuff; the techniques. The drawing subjects are split generally into three themes: still life; landscape (private and public spaces) and finally portraiture. The suggestions on what you can draw are like things inside your home; the scenes around your neighbourhood; inside cafes or shops; portraits of yourself; friends; colleagues; family; etc. I suppose theres no difficulty at finding things outdoors to draw even if you cant follow exactly the suggestion; for example; I dont have a studio or backyard. The last section on portraiture has 12 days which I think is too much. Most involve painting different people in your life; and portraits of celebrity; strangers; pets.Author and artist Timothy Callaghan uses mostly gouache and acrylic for the examples; including those from guest artists. Most of the examples presented look like they are observational drawings. You definitely need the basics on drawing before you can get started.Making one painting a day is a challenge. Tremendous motivation is required. Maybe this book can provide you with some; and also some ideas along the way. Also check out One Drawing a Day; One Watercolor a Day; Freehand: Sketching Tips and Tricks Drawn from Art and 男の絵日記―15分で描くライフスケッチ for more ideas.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. There were more exercises towards the beginning then a lot of duplicates at the end as if the writer ran out of ideas. About mid way through the book is landscapes; home landscape; utopian (backyard) landscape; living room; studio space; kitchen; porch...then public places; cafeacute;; shop; diner; etc....then portraits; self; friend; peer; stranger etc 8 of them...and then 7 more portraits in the last chapter (so 15 of the days are portraits). I should have looked at it more when I first got it because I would have sent it back.
