PDF Eyeglasses by Rick Sapp in Arts-Photography

Description

In an audacious; provocative protest against flagrant global attempts to sexualise and commodify childhood for profit; award-winning artist Bryony Kimmings and her niece Taylor; nine; decided to play the global tween machine at its own game by inventing dinosaur-loving; bike-riding; tuna pasta-eating; alternative pop star Catherine Bennett. This show tackles the issues at the very core of their plight head on. In typically screwball and humorous fashion; Kimmings; creator of acclaimed shows Sex Idiot and 7 Day Drunk; begs the question; what does it really take to be a Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model for a child of the 21st century?WINNER: FRINGE FIRST AWARD 2013

Many of the photos could have been taken anywhere in the country; with nothing in them that identifies the location as Highway 99. The captions are also weak; often providing random information that does not relate to the topic in any way. The photos seem to heavily weighted toward Kern County; Turlock; and; inexplicably; Fosters Freeze. The book was ultimately worth a purchase to me because my family is from Kern County but; without that background; I would have found this book extremely disappointing. Highway 99 from Modesto to Bakersfield is a great topic with huge potential; but this missed the mark.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Disappointing...By Alan H. KlineErratic; disorganized and poorly written. The book isnt sure if its the story of a highway or of Californias Central Valley. Either would be a worthwhile subject; but this book is a jumbled mish-mash of the two.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This Good Book Tells About The History Of Highway 99 In California.By WilliamThis book has interesting information and pictures about Californias Highway 99. Here is some of the information that this book mentions: In the 1920s; State 4 was resigned as U.S. Highway 99. In the 1960s; it was redesigned as State Route 99 in CA. Between the 1930s and the 1950s; the road was widened as a four lane expressway. Historically speaking when stopping at a diner along Highway 99; it was a lot of times the owner or the his family that served you. Oregon Route 99 has much of the same nostalgic values as CA Highway 99 does. Foster Freeze is named after George Foster who opened Californias first Foster Freeze in 1946. There are numerous Giant Orange Stands along Highway 99. The town of Hughson located near Modesto is known as The Peach Capital Of The World. Bens Drugs is part of the community history of Walnut Grove. Some of the pictures in this book include pictures of the following: 1880 photograph of Glenville Hotel; the Selma Hotel; the Merced Theatre in Merceds historic Downtown; Chowchillia Creamery; the five lanes of Business Highway 99 in Merced; Modesto Theatre; and Modestos Arch of Water Wealth Contentment Health.
