This includes ENTIRE lesson plans to use in the classroom; as well as assessment rubrics; a song appendix; and book suggestions that connect with the lessons! This is going to save me so much planning time next year- Ill be able to actually focus on the activities and my teaching! Such quality materials AND a huge time saver! This book is great for any Kodaly trained music teacher; but it is clear and thorough enough that it could easily be used by any general music teacher as well. Ive been waiting for this book to come out for a couple of years now and I am so excited about using this to plan my lessons for the kindergartners next school year!9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Fabulous resourceBy Katherine RiordanKodaly in the Kindergarten Classroom is an amazing resource for elementary music teachers and classroom teachers alike. This research- based approach to teaching early childhood music is incredibly sequenced and well thought out. It includes a full years worth of lesson plans; titles of hundreds of picture books that relate to the lessons; and many of the songs used in the lessons. I cant recommend this book enough! It is a great value for the price.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Thank you Oxford University Press for making this wonderful resource affordable for elementary music educators everywhereBy Nancy A. GarzaThis book is a milestone in music education; written by the same authors of the textbook "Kodaly Today". It contains the basic tenants of the Kodaly methodology; centered around the kindergarten classroom. In it; there is an exhaustive list of over 200 childrens literature pieces that tie into the lesson plan concepts of tunable singing; beat; loud/soft; high/low (chant); fast/slow; high/low (pitch) and rhythm. Having these lesson plans provides a framework for the kindergarten music classroom which will set students up for continued success in subsequent grades. My charter school has just adopted this book as the main resource for the elementary music classroom. I have been waiting for its release and I cannot wait to implement it in my classroom!! I have this book in two versions; the paperback and the Kindle version. Thank you Oxford University Press for making this wonderful resource affordable for elementary music educators everywhere!
