Ms Rathbone creates a perfect balance between relating the stories of powerful and willful people; the background to major changes in the museum business; and being fair to her father. Many of the players did not always exercise the best judgment; which she neither covers up nor exploits. It appears that she had access to her fathers many unpublished papers. Even if you dont care about the Boston Museum of Fine Arts or its "Raphael;" read it as you would a good novel.
