Not in-depth; but OK if you just want picturesBy CostumeDesignerBound and Determined is an anthology of black-and white drawings and photos (some badly in need of editing) of corsets and girdles; mostly from the 1850s through the 1950s. Some are dated and attributed in captions to their original sources; some are not; and there is no bibliography. There is no real attempt to cover (let alone analyze) the full range of corset types for any period. The four-page introduction (which comprises almost all the text) adds little. Along with the books misleadingly suggestive title; it makes me long for just one corset book that doesnt include *any* of the coy eroticism authors think necessary to sell this subject. In short; dont look for academic; technical; or how-to information here. If you just want some corset and girdle photos; and dont want to personally investigate vintage fashion magazines or catalogs; this little book does well enough.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. a great history in picsBy G.
