Fictions of Art History; the most recent addition to the Clark Studies in the Visual Arts series; addresses art historyrsquo;s complex relationships with fiction; poetry; and creative writing. Inspired by a 2010 conference; the volume examines art historiansrsquo; viewing practices and modes of writing. How; the contributors ask; are we to unravel the supposed facts of history from the fictions constructed in works of art? How do art historians employ or resist devices of fiction; and what are the effects of those choices on the reader? In styles by turns witty; elliptical; and plain-speaking; the essays in Fictions of Art History are fascinating and provocative critical interventions in art history.

The images were nice but too cartoon at times for adultsBy Everglades PhotographerI received this book for free for an honest review and an honest review I shall give. When I received the book I was very excited to read it; I needed some inspiration in my life and new literature was surely what I was after. However what I discovered in the book sadly was not that. The book claimed that it was for Men; but surely I feel it was more for young teens and boys. The graphics and writing style was for a younger crowd and not for an adult. The images were nice but too cartoon at times for adults; they lacked captions. The stories were written nicely but failed proofreading and the writing had errors. Even though the title was misleading and surely did not match the content within. It was an okay book for younger minds eager to find some form of enlightenment.Thank you for taking the time to read my review; If my review was helpful to you; please click that it was helpful and feel free to contact me directly with any question and/or inquiries. I would do my best to answer your question to my best ability. I try my best to be open minded when reviewing things because my name is on the line. ~ GeorgeLEGAL DISCLAIMERFTC - I received a discount for this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. Great way of sharing morals and values through storiesBy Brad and April McKinleyThere are so many great values and morals implied in the stories shared in this book. There are 52 pages in this book. I would place the reading level of this book around a fifth or sixth grade level. The images also do a great job at supplementing the content of the book. Overall; I was definitely satisfied after reading this and it helped spark different conversations with my son. I would recommend this book. I received this product for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for product testing and review. I am under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no incentives or rewards for doing so. My aim is to highlight features and drawbacks that I would want to know about as a buyer; not hype the product for the manufacturer to increase sales. My remarks are sincere and true. I work very hard trying to write insightful and thoughtful reviews for each item. My hope is that these reviews are helpful to others. If it did not; please comment with how I can improve; this helps me to be a better reviewer. While it is true that many items are received at discounted rates or complimentary; my reviews are completely unbiased as well as honest and are my personal experiences and opinion of the product. I guess if the title says FOR men; the book may be a little on the childish side. The stories; of course; are great as are any stories from the Bible. This one has artwork and even text that seems to be geared more toward younger men. Not even men really. More like the 10 to 12; maybe 13 range. These are great stories if you dont know them. Cain and Abel; Daniel and the Lions Den; and Nebuchanezzar. And with all the great stories in the bible about great men; there are only three in this book. It is nice because you can read it all in one sitting; but I would have to say the book is geared more toward a younger audience.I received a discount for this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review based upon my experience.
