Hat das Theater eine gesellschaftliche Funktion? Dirk Baecker; einer der maszlig;geblichen Soziologen der Gegenwart; bejaht diese Frage. Er sieht diese Funktion in der Reflexion auf Verhauml;ltnisse der Beobachtung zweiter Ordnung; der Beobachtung von Beobachtern; die das Theater auf ganz einmalige Weise leistet. Damit stellt er dem Theater seine Kunst nicht in Abrede. Ganz im Gegenteil: Denn dafuuml;r; Beobachter beobachtbar zu machen; muss sich das Theater an eine Wahrnehmung wenden; die normalerweise anderes zu tun hat. Ein Abenteuer; so Baecker; ist das gegenwauml;rtige Theater aus zwei Gruuml;nden: Erstens werden auch die Kouml;rper; das Licht; die Stimmungen; die Buuml;hnenbilder und die Medien als Beobachter wiederentdeckt; die im klassisch modernen Theater fast ganz von den Menschen verdrauml;ngt worden sind. Und zweitens stellt das Theater heute nicht mehr nur seine Institutionen; sondern seine Formate zur Diskussion. Darsteller; Regisseur und Publikum sind nahe daran; ihre Rollen zu tauschen. Diese beiden Linien des gegenwauml;rtigen Theaters geht Dirk Baecker anhand der Arbeiten von Claudia Bosse; Frank Castorf; Hannah Hurtzig; Wolfgang Krause Zwieback; Ivan Stanev; VA Wouml;lfl und vielen anderen nach und versucht eine Antwort auf die Frage zu finden; was man uuml;ber eine Gesellschaft sagen kann; in der das Abenteuer Theater immer noch eine Funktion hat.

It would have been nicer to have the photos a bit larger throughout; especially the very tiny ones. But the concept is great; and I love seeing the similarities between each set. CarrellFull disclosure: this is a book by a friend. But that said; I honestly find it lovely. Im a book in hand person; not ready yet to go only for screen images so I was glad this book (based on a popular web site) was created. I received my copy during a difficult time and I found great comfort and distraction in the peaceful images. Both photographers have a fresh outlook and wonderful hand at simplicity and nuance. I got ideas about room decoration; hand made crafts while at the same time basic reminders of the cycles of life. This is a book I will return to for quiet times and times when I need creative inspiration. My only wish was that the book was a larger format.
