0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. ....bundle up in your winter underwear and woolen clothing and go out to a movie!By Anthony Sol... i collect any material i happen upon concerning drive-in theatres and i assumed this book would give us some great photos; advertising material and history.... but its rather grim. since i grew up in southern california where drive-ins were a colorful part of everyday life; i assumed the same would hold true in other parts of the U.S. as well. unfortunately; they lacked the zip and zest of southern california drive-ins. the space-age or old-west designs of theatres in california are unknown in the midwest; and the pictures of snow on the ground or utilitarian military bunker looking drive-in structures look very... well; uninviting. drive-in viewing was a year round habit on the west coast but not in the midwest. perhaps folks who grew up in michigan looked forward to visits to their drive-ins during the summer months and will find cause for rejoicing in this volume. its strictly a matter of taste.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The images must come out of the dusty corners of attics which makes them no less important. Theyre always the "sidelights" on American History that never make the "big books" and because of that they are especially fascinating; not to mention invaluable.
