(Well not all but the really important ones) Excellent reading to get inside of this beautiful orchestral music. But is not neccesary to read music to understand Larsons prose. In other words You dont have to be a musician or composer to enjoy it. The most important composers get a complete chapter; as James Bernard. Randalls analysis of The Gorgon is particularly brilliant. There is even a chapter about the Hammer TV music. The only part of the book that is updated is the Discography. The new (and must have) GDI CDs are not listed. GDI didnt exist when the book was finished. If You like Hammer movies; this is a must have for a different and exciting point of view.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding Resource for Fans of Hammer Horror and Film MusicBy Kristopher SpencerI read this book cover to cover when conducting research for my own book about film music (Film and Television Scores; 1950-1979; which is available now). I found it to be very thoroughly researched and an enjoyable read. It added to my appreciation of Hammer horror movies and the enormous efforts undertaken by composers like James Bernard to write music that not only blends well with the drama on screen; but can be enjoyed on its own as well.
