So happy with this book!By Toby HoffmanI took piano lessons as a child and teen; through Level 6; and didnt play for many years at all until my kids started lessons and we got a real piano in the house again. I share this information because I was really hesitant to order this book; not knowing what the level might be and if I could play it. I am happy to say that after practicing a few times a week for the past year or so; this book is within my abilities. It is too difficult for my daughter; who is currently at the beginning of Level 4 in her piano lessons. I have been working on For Good; and it is a beautiful arrangement and I expect to have it polished up soon. It is so fun to sit down and sing along while I accompany myself--as others have said; this book has arrangements that are very true to the score and sound like REAL MUSIC; not dumbed-down simplified stuff.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful musicBy Some1inKCThis is piano accompaniment music so it doesnt have all the melody lines in the piano music. The melody lines are on the third staff with the words. The book does say vocal selections.That being said; I love the music from Wicked and this piano music is just beautiful. I really enjoy playing this music. It is basically the orchestral arrangements transcribed to piano. They took great care when creating this music to keep it true to the original score. They did condense some of the music to make it flow better so it can be played as a piano solo. DongI absolutely love Wicked; have watched it twice since being able to afford it (about a year); and I purchased this book to learn the piano parts. This is book is VOCAL LINES + AWESOME PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT. (For the book with vocal lines interpolated into the piano part; look up "Wicked - Piano/Vocal Arrangement".)Its arranged by the composer himself and is very true to the original score; not watered down much at all. The arrangements are not extremely hard; but they do require a decent amount of experience and are definitely not for beginners. (Ive been playing for 15 years and can sightread MOST of the book; but there are a few that need practice! No Good Deed; for example.) As a Wicked lover and experienced piano player; this book made me very happy. I do sing; but find it hard to do so while playing; so I havent really looked at the vocal lines. From what I gather from other reviews; they are just as great!
