I found John Bramblitt quite by accident on Facebook one night when he was streaming a two hour painting session/tutorial. When you watch him there is nothing that would indicate that he is blind. It is just unbelievable to see his brilliant skills unfold right in front of you. You can post questions on the computer and his wife reads them to him. He answers your questions as he is painting. What an amazing human-being he is. I just had to find out more about him so I ordered this book that he wrote. What an inspiration. I had trauma in my life from the age of three until I was seventeen. Sadly you carry that with you as you get older. Thankfully I found the best therapist in the world and after many years of facing my demons I came out on the other side a better person. I can still fall back into hearing the old messages of my father in my head if I am not careful. But John taught me so much through is book on how to reframe the negativity. He has truly blessed my life. You will love this book and will seek-out more about John. You probably will be following his weekly webcasts as he paints and kibitzes with his followers.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. IlluminatingBy PeterAfter he went blind while in college; John Bramblitt practiced getting around without sight at a Six Flags amusement park. Think about that. He began to paint *after* he lost his sight; and his terrific writing made me understand what it means to see with sensors other than the eye. His powerful work is beautifully reproduced in the book. In which theres not an ounce of sentimentality; by the way. Only plenty of emotion; drive; and grit. You wont be able to stop reading until youre through to Johns singing in the light.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A must read!By Pendleton D. GormanA beautifully and sensitively written memoir of a remarkable man who becomes blind and ultimately triumphs over his disability through sheer determination; courage; a chance encounter at an arts supply store; along with the help of others. He eventually discovers ways to "see" in new ways and to live his life without limitation. This is an inspirational story and a testament to the transcendence of the human spirit. The book is a must read!
