A good beginning for Evidence Based DesignBy Peter HarjungDevlinrsquo;s book covers the basics of evidence based design; including the use of resources and tools such as post occupancy analysis; as well as issues regarding sustainable design; ADA regulations and HIPAA Laws. The majority of the book is focused on examples from past health care design as well as current designs and practices that are based on conducted research. The areas covered in the chapters include: office location; signs; arrival and waiting areas; consultation spaces and the ambient environment of the office. While going in to great depth in these areas with many good practices; the book is not comprehensive in the design of these offices and does not include in depth discussions on support spaces. Overall; the book is a great resource to add to the library of a healthcare designer; but would need to be supplemented by other books.1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Dont redesign your office without reading this book.By Karen J.I am not a designer but I found this book provided great information in an easy to read style. I used much of the information for design ideas in my own small private practice but it is really written more for the hospital or large medical center.
