How to Use Your Eyes

audiobook How to Use Your Eyes by JAMES ELKINS in Arts-Photography

Description

James Elkinss How to Use Your Eyes invites us to look at--and maybe to see for the first time--the world around us; with breathtaking results. Here are the common artifacts of life; often misunderstood and largely ignored; brought into striking focus. With the discerning eye of a painter and the zeal of a detective; Elkins explores complicated things like mandalas; the periodic table; or a hieroglyph; remaking the world into a treasure box of observations--eccentric; ordinary; marvelous.

LevacyThere is an antiquated viewpoint to all of these amalgams but thats because of the date they were created. Some combinations like the "Shutterbutt" (half sheep/half camera) would be confusing to modern viewers unless theyre a camera buff like I am but the images are all interesting and funny. Pre-photoshop images are actually pretty good.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. ... Beasties by Derek Pell is a book more than fun. Fun little book!By Kelly McMenaminI received this book as a gift years ago; and its something I dig out of my bookcase about once a year to giggle at.What makes this book is the style of art - I am not sure what its called but I think its like old fashioned "newspaper drawing" style from before they had photography in the newspapers. This is especially recommended for kids who enjoy/notice art and have a sense of humor. This book may have gotten me started on drawing morphed animals; and when I draw that kind of stuff for kids; they love it.Highly recommended!
