A serious challenge for beginners like me.By VaughnSo far Ive made 2 pair of the "Goodnight sweetheart pjs tops and bottoms; as well as 2 Henry shirts; for four of my grandchildren.With the exception of the tops consistently running a little short the patterns have fit well. If you have enough experience to pretty much already know what your doing then the instructions and illustrations are accurate and easy tofollow; if not; then be prepared with your seam ripper as you struggle with the frustration of trial and error. Without fail after I finally figuredout what to do; Id reread the instructions and now they made sense. When I made the Henry Shirts I followed two online experienced sewers;without the help of their photos Id have never made it.Id hope Shelly Figueroa (the Author) continues to produce some more books; and observers as someone else tries to follow her instructions;Ill bet the result will be easier for dummies like me to understand.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful boys patterns!!!!By Pj3gAs a Grandma who sews; I found this book refreshing because its for boys! Girl patterns are everywhere and in every style. Not for boys though. But heres a bunch all in one book! For the amount of patterns you get in the book; the price is amazing and the patterns are cute too!! They will inspire your creativity! The instructions of the pieces Ive already made were understandable and fit together perfectly. I also like that the size range for the patterns will allow me to sew for my grandsons for several years. I love Sewing For Boys and am glad I bought it!!! I added 2 photos of the Easy Linen Shirt and Mr. Two Face Pants. Very classy outfit if I say so myself and my grandson loved it!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Splendid!By LolaI was thrilled to find this book! I have a young son and love to sew for him; but had very nearly run out of ideas-- and had become resigned that all the cute patterns out there were only for girls. This is a delightful book with wonderful patterns and ideas and these are clothes a boy would really wear-- no teddy-bear Christmas sweaters in this book. I have a fair amount of sewing experience and so there I havent had any issues with any of the instructions; but I think its clearly written and detailed enough to be user-friendly to a beginner. Also has some nice tips for working with knits; which I wasnt totally familiar with before but now am more comfortable (thanks in part to this book). Love it! If you have a boy I highly recommend.
