The rest arent my favorites and a few I didnt even read. Mostly because this is an anthology with different artists and some artists like people reading other writers are just too hard to get into. mostly because of their style or storytelling. It would have been wonderful had one artist painted the whole thing; but it also would defeat the purpose of the author. I bought it and wont discard it because those favorites. Also because of this book I was able to learn about some things I didnt know about the history of comics and some artists I have overlooked.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. And as it is illustrated in comic book form it also boast the the most inarguably finest artists of our timeBy jim wizMasterful Marks is an illustrated history of the remarkable persons that have created and shaped the the very world that we know today.Imagine a world that had never known the genius of Walt Disney; Hugh Hefner; Charles Schultz; or Charles Addams and etc.......Monte Beauchamp has presented for us not just a mere retelling of an already familiar history of the afore mentioned. Masterful Marks unfolds little known facts and insights about the lives of these creative geniuses. The highs and lows ; sadnesss and happinesss all distilled into their final paths of greatness.Magnificent Marks ultimately tells the story of ourselves....who we are ; and why. Not a mere "coffee table " book. It belongs on the same lofty shelf as any as any other important volumes of World History; and Popular culture . And as it is illustrated in comic book form it also boast the the most inarguably finest artists of our time. [ take THAT; Will Durant .] Monte Beauchamp has outdone himself with this ; his most recent and superb written and illiustrated; accomplishment.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Brilliant; Beautiful; and BodaciousBy Ham GraivyMonte Beauchamps new book; Masterful Marks; is brilliant and stunning. The artwork is superb and the storytelling is excellent. Beauchamp has taken the language of cartoons and has used it to tell the essential story of each of these remarkable cartoonists. The illustrator for each biographical section evokes; rather than mimics; the style of its subject; which is a remarkable achievement. Beauchamp did a wonderful job matching the right illustrator to the subject; whether it was the lesser known; though no less significant; Rodolph Touml;epffer; illustrated by Frank Stack; or the internationally well-known Walt Disney; illustrated by Larry Day.Beauchamp and every single artist in this book did a fantastic job.
