I knew far fewer of the songs than I expected. Some of the ones I thought Id know actually just had the same name as a song I knew.I hate to penalize the book much because of my lack of knowledge about the songs. Its just that familiarity with the song helps me so much when starting a new piece of music. I guess Ill be looking songs up on and trying to get a feel for them by the 15-second free preview. The book is pretty thick but actually stays open reasonably well; given its thickness. You have to "break the spine" of course; but Ive played songs near the back and had little trouble with the pages staying put.The price was reasonable so if I can learn ten songs out of the 150; Ill figure I have my moneys worth. As to the difficulty; the songs definitely fall under the "easy" category. Now; that doesnt mean a brand new student will find them easy; but they use a lot of single-notes and chords in the left hand. Plus; most are a slow tempo and can be played expressively; so you have more time to find your fingering.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Lots of songs for the moneyBy robert fritzThere are lots of songs to choose from and the binding isnt too difficult to open in order to play as some books are. There is a wide assortment of songs from different eras. The "Easy" rating is well deserved; and most songs still sound quite lovely even with the easier arrangement.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Collection of StandardsBy LBI GregThe book is huge; and I had to divide it in two and have it spiral bound. That being said; there are probably 60 of 75 tunes in each half that I play regularly. Easy to read arrangements with enough complexity for the home player to sound like a skilled pianist and a framework for the skilled musician to improvise. Tune for tune; this book is a great value; especially if you locate a lightly used copy; as I did.
