Jim Morrison: LIfe; Death; Legend

PDF Jim Morrison: LIfe; Death; Legend by Stephen Davis in Arts-Photography

Description

As the lead singer of the Doors; Jim Morrisonrsquo;s searing poetic vision and voracious appetite for sexual; spiritual; and psychedelic experience inflamed the spirit and psyche of a generation. Since his mysterious death in 1971; millions more fans from a new generation have embraced his legacy; as layers of myth have gathered to enshroud the life; career; and true character of the man who was James Douglas Morrison. In Jim Morrison; critically acclaimed journalist Stephen Davis; author of Hammer of the Gods; unmasks Morrisonrsquo;s constructed personas of the Lizard King and Mr. Mojo Risinrsquo; to reveal a man of fierce intelligence whose own destructive tendencies both fueled his creative ambitions and brought about his downfall. Gathered from dozens of original interviews and investigations of Morrisonrsquo;s personal journals; Davis has assembled a vivid portrait of a misunderstood genius; tracing the arc of Morrisonrsquo;s life from his troubled youth to his international stardom; when his drug and alcohol binges; tumultuous sexual affairs; and fractious personal relationships reached a frenzied peak. For the first time; Davis is able to reconstruct Morrisonrsquo;s last days in Paris to solve one of the greatest mysteries in music history in a shocking final chapter.Compelling and harrowing; intimate and revelatory; Jim Morrison is the definitive biography of the rock idol in snakeskin and leather who defined the 1960s.

Masonry Cement ManBy JackWhile this book was written by an architect; she has a great depth of knowlege in the trade and the information is invaluable. However; To actually build a masonry house; it is necessary to have some hands on experience. An actual masonry course; would be inorder. In other words; as a reference for a masonry student; this is great; but it can not replace or modify the need to experience mixing mortar and squaring block. The authors other book on detailing masonry is also good; and is highly recommended.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Puddling with ConcreteBy E. Detailed and applicable to anyone doing such projects.15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Good for Concrete and Masonry theory but not a "how to" bookBy masonry neophyte in coloradoThis would be a good college text book for "Concrete and Masonry Theory". What I was looking for is a good text book for a "How the Heck do I pour concrete and lay bricks?" class. This weakly illustrated book with black and white photos was written by an architect and not a mason and is more suited to the general contractor or construction inspector. If you are looking for a hands-on "how to" book skip this one and buy a step by step well illustrated book with color photos.
