Jumpers for Goalposts (NHB Modern Plays)

DOC Jumpers for Goalposts (NHB Modern Plays) by Tom Wells in Arts-Photography

Description

In 1964; Douglas Gilbert was hired by Look magazine to photograph a young up-and-coming musician named Bob Dylan. Gilbert snapped over 900 of the most candid shots ever taken of Dylan; less than a year before he became completely inaccessible to the public. The photos; beautifully composed; capture the 23-year-old Dylan in rare private moments hanging out with friends (including Allen Ginsberg; Phil Ochs; and John Sebastian; among others) and family in Woodstock; at concerts; and in New York Citys classic dive bar -- the Kettle of Fish. Look magazine never ran the story and the photos sat unseen for forty years; until now. With an intimate and revealing text by acclaimed Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh; Forever Young is an irresistible compendium of nearly 100 of the best images from this fascinating; pivotal time in Bob Dylans career.

Accurate Transcriptions- surprisingly accessible to the mid-level ukerBy Christian MesserschmidtSimilar to the earlier Hal Leonard book for Peace; Love + Ukulele (Peace Love Ukulele); this set of tabs and standard notation accurately transcribes Jakes wonderful music very well. While the songs on Grand Ukulele are generally easier to play and the arrangements more simplistic than on his previous album PLU; I feel like the transcriber has improved the accuracy for voicings and fingerings this time- to me; the tabs have less of a guitar feel and more of a native uke design.Get the book; support Jake and spread the Aloha!7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Brilliant!By Rasmus HelmsI just received this book and the notation is spot on!To be honest; I was expecting much as the album; Grand Ukulele; didnt do it for me quite like his previous album Peace Love and Ukulele. But the fact that every song is played using only one ukulele; compared to his previous album/book where you often required two or three ukes. Its a great book and I would definitely advice everyone to get this.If you havent got either of Jakes tablature books; Id recommend getting this first; as the overall level in this is slightly easier and requires less ukes.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good book; but not on kindleBy B. HartThis is great music; and fun to try to sound like Jake (ha!); but I shouldnt have bought the Kindle version. Its awkward to work with -- I cant see the tabs clearly; have to magnify; then stop and close the window to turn the page. Too frustrating. I will never buy a Kindle music book again. The format just doesnt suit playing an entire song smoothly.
