Ripen Our Darkness was the play that established Sarah Daniels as a writer; The Devils Gateway carries the flavour of life in Bethnal Green in the 1980s; Masterpieces; Daniels most controversial play is a radical take on the porn industry and caused outrage among critics - "The play has bite; anger and tenacity and many of its arguments are true... the supreme merit of Ms Daniels combative work is that it makes me want to argue back." (Michael Billington; Guardian) Neaptide looks at lesbianism and prejudice - "A lacerating wit" (City Limits); whilst Byrthrite is set in the 17th century; at the point when the role of the healer was taken over by the male profession of doctor; it examines the implications and dangers of reproductive technology - "Daniels puts her case with vigour and wit." Maybe in the how to write a resume section; but lets face it; all resumes require the same basic foundations. Whether youre an accountant or a Broadway star. Its samples and examples specifically target Performing Arts fields. I found this book to be an asset to my Musical Theatre career. Its packed full of sample resumes for actors; musicians; instructors and more. It has tips for writing resumes (i.e. what to avoid; how to present it; etc.) and cover letters. About 75% or so of the book is sample resumes and cover letters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to write up a performing arts resume.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Instruction Not Focused on Performance ArtsBy Lakewood; OHI found this book confusing and the title deceiving...the first part is very basic "resumes 101" type content (e.g. difference between a chronological and functional resume; action verbs to use; etc.). The book also uses examples like "Regional Sales Manager" and "corporate litigation" within the content as examples. Wouldnt it be more appropriate to use examples utlizing actors; acting; vocal performance; i.e. performance art examples? There is NOTHING in this content about how performance arts resumes are different from traditional resumes or how to develop performance art resumes. This standard content ends at page 37 and then from page 37 to 119 there are performance arts sample resumes and cover letters. Its like they took a resume writing brochure; added a bunch of performance art resumes to the end and published it - which in fact is exactly what they did.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Weak.By akbassmanAs another reviewer said; this book gives no insight into the specifics of developing effective performing arts resumes; i.e. the specific challenges; how this type of resume differs from others; etc. Some OK examples; but I expected a much more focused and thorough resource.
