Butley What is so wondrous about a play so basically defeatist and hurtful is its ability to be funny. The stark; unsentimental approach to the homosexual relationship; the cynical send-up of academic life; the skeptical view of the teacher-pupil associations are all stunningly illuminated by continuous explosions of sardonic; needling; feline; vituperative and civilised lines. The topics covered were mentioned on the test; which I took and PASSED today. I think this book tends to go into more detail than the actual test did (not that the test was easy); but I found that depth helpful because its better to study too much than too little. I purchased this with the official CLEP book also sold on and between the two; all topics covered on the exam were available. The practice tests for this product are helpful - I found that once I took the test; reading the explanation of the answer provided me valuable bits of info directly related to test topics. I recommend the other official CLEP book as a partner to this study guide. Overall; you cant beat this as an option for college credit - for less than $150 total (books plus test fees) I earned 6 credits and saved myself about $2000 in course fees.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Purchasing the book is a great start...By CustomerI encourage anyone needing help to pass the Humanities CLEP exam to purchase this study guide; as it includes a one-time access code to access REAs online Study Center (you have to be the original purchaser of the book since access codes may only be redeemed once). These exclusive online tools provide full-length practice tests that give you the most complete picture of your strengths and weaknesses. There are two types of assessment: 1) a diagnostic test and 2) two full-length (140 questions) practice exams. The book includes practice drills and detailed explanations of the answers at the end of each chapter; a glossary for important literary figures and their major works (SUPER helpful); a glossary for literary terms; and the two full-length practice tests (I feel like this section was useful when I didnt have online access). Given these helpful tools; and because humanities is such a broad subject; I recommend doing your secondary research IN ADDITION to studying this book. What I found really helpful was going online and using search engines; Wikipedia; YouTube; and SparkNotes online. I also rented Culture and Values: A Survey of the Humanities as a supplemental resource. I hope my review was helpful. Good luck to you all!4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.
