A great read.By Colin McPhillamyAlthough George Halls verbal feedback: "Darling theres something about the way you walk; as if youre saving your heels for later" must count as some of the wittiest ever expressed to student actors; for many of us; Ja da da ... ja da da ... ja da da da ja!!! will always take us back to movement classes in Room D. Lolly Susis engaging and insightful book; ranges from his beginnings in theatre; through his many years as Head of Acting at The Central School of Speech and Drama; to his later teaching and performing at large; both in the UK and the USA. The conversations are free and frank and peppered with the common sense and practical wisdom that was Georges trademark; and which often gets lost when people talk about acting. Tracing his roots to the glory days of The Old Vic; George connects with the finest in British 20th century theatre. George Hall was and is a great teacher; one of the most influential of his generation. Lolly has done a service to the profession in compiling this book; which should be read by students and teachers of acting everywhere!
